Breyionna Flowers was raised in McAlmont (Mac Almah in the native tongue), a small community in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where she spent most of her time crouched under her elders, listening to their tales of southern Black spirituality, folklore and history. Those experiences influenced much of her work, which explores vast magical, Afro-futuristic worlds that are intertwined with Hoodoo tradition. Through her production company, Rememory Media, she seeks to introduce fresh, cultural narratives about the complexities of Black American identity and vulnerability. It is her goal that her work becomes a catalyst for radical joy and imagination. Professionally, she has learned under some of the most respected Assistant Directors in the industry, such as Donald Sparks and Karen Davis. She also served as a Research Assistant for Academy-Award-winning Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter for the film Sinners (2025). In addition, she worked as the assistant to the Director of Public Relations at Jackson State University, where she learned the intricacies of public image management and was an official videographer for the university. A huge advocate for education, Breyionna excelled at Jackson State University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication (Media Production) with a Theatre minor. She also studied Digital Filmmaking (Scriptwriting) and Anthropology at the University of Central Arkansas, where she gained another Bachelor's degree. She then earned her Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture Art (Directing and Production) from Florida State University, where she was awarded the MPA Graduate Fellowship.
